HVAC Load Calculations

The key to comfortable cooling and heating in your home or office is a properly sized HVAC system. An over-sized or under-sized system can result in high energy bills and/or not acheiving the comfortable temperature you want in some or all areas of your home.

Why do you have an improperly sized system? Unfortunately, a lot of builders neglect to size systems correctly, cutting corners by using a rule of thumb based solely on overall square footage.

All homes are unique, however, and each HVAC system needs to be sized individually by calculating how much heating and cooling each room and/or zone requires. This is done by factoring in square footage, local temperature, amount and type of window in each room, orintation in relation to the sun, insulation, and several other variables. The technical term for this type of a calculation is a "ACCA Manual J" calculation, which is the name of the national standard used.

Whether you are building a new home or improving your existing home, having an HVAC load calculation report will give you the comprehensive information you need to assure comfortable temperatures throughout your home.

It is not as costly or time-consuming as you may think. Most reports can be generated within a couple of days for under $500. If you would like to know more, give us a call or send us an e-mail and we can give you the specifics and answer any questions you may have.
