Las Vegas, NV

Southland Energy, the comprehensive energy services division of Southland Industries, was recently awarded a series of energy projects for the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District in Northern California. Utilizing the state’s proposition 39 funding for energy efficiency and clean energy projects, the design-build energy solutions will consist of HVAC, lighting, and controls upgrades for the district’s facilities. Southland Energy will be responsible for the overall development, design, energy calculations and modeling, as well as the installation of the HVAC, lighting, and controls upgrades.

For the district’s first-year projects under proposition 39, Southland Energy will provide exterior LED lighting retrofits for the Chabot College campus located in Hayward, California; the Las Positas College campus in Livermore, California; and the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District in Dublin, California.  Within the library and faculty offices at Las Positas College, Southland Energy will also implement HVAC and controls upgrades. The upgrades will involve the integration of LED lighting with the existing lighting systems, semi-custom HVAC units, and upgrading old pneumatic controls to direct digital controls that provide room temperature sensors and monitoring. In addition, higher annual energy savings that will be achieved by replacing four air-cooled, direct expansion package units with new semi-custom air handling units incorporating chilled and hot water coils will result in a rebate from local utility provider, Pacific Gas and Electric.

With the design phase underway since August 2013, the projects entered into construction earlier this month. Overall project completion is anticipated by October 2014.
