AB 841 is a California state bill that includes language regarding the School Energy Efficiency Stimulus (SEES) Program.
The SEES Program includes two new grant programs that will provide funding to local educational agencies for assessments and upgrades to heating, air conditioning, and ventilation (HVAC) systems in public schools and also replacements of noncompliant plumbing fixtures and appliances that fail to meet water efficiency standards.
AB 841 is focused on providing funds for underserved communities in California located near freeways or industrial facilities.
As AB 841 is currently under development, you can start to prepare to evaluate and assess the HVAC and plumbing systems in your district. As many schools are weighing the best ways to safely reopen amid the COVID-19 pandemic, clean air matters more than ever before. AB 841 can help assess and provide the facility upgrades required for a healthy educational environment.
