About / Bios / Art Thompson

As Director of Energy Sales, Mr. Thompson oversees the growth of Southland Energy’s business outside of the federal market with a primary focus on the education, municipal, and healthcare sectors. His expertise specifically includes energy laws, regulations, and policies, as well as alternatively financed energy solutions like performance contracting, power purchase agreements, and energy service agreements.

With over a decade of experience in the building systems and energy services industries, Mr. Thompson has a history of working with customers to overcome complex challenges and develop financially beneficial solutions that positively impact their bottom line. His holistic view of the customer-direct relationships that drive high impact solutions allow him to act as a consultant to customers, while positioning Southland Energy as a valued partner for energy services projects. Throughout his career, which spans over a total of 20 years, his achievements have also included developing best practice models for varying levels of sales interactions and managing and training successful sales teams.

Mr. Thompson received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Illinois and remains active within industry organizations such as APPA (for leadership in educational facilities), the American Society of Healthcare Engineering, the Society of American Military Engineers, and the US Green Building Council.

The most rewarding thing about being an energy professional is that it gives me the opportunity to have significant impact on clients and their businesses while also doing my small part in addressing environmental issues that will impact future generations.
