US Department of Energy Certifies Southland Energy as a Pre-Qualified Energy Service Company

Friday, December 13, 2013 – 00:00

Dulles, VA

Southland Energy, a division of Southland Industries, recently announced that it has been approved for the US Department of Energy’s Qualified List of Energy Service Companies. With several qualifications required for a company to be recognized on this list, this certification validates Southland Energy’s track record of helping federal agencies reduce costs through energy savings solutions. For federal agencies that are looking to reduce energy costs and meet renewable goals, this certification means they may now directly engage Southland Energy to perform energy services work.

“We are very proud to have received this important certification and qualified status for Southland Energy,” said Vice President of Southland Energy Natasha Shah. “This qualification not only strengthens our foothold in the federal market, but will allow us to work even closer with the federal government and municipalities in offering energy saving solutions to help fund infrastructure upgrades. Taking into account that we have also completed over $1.3 billion in design-build federal government projects, it makes us uniquely qualified to implement bundled, energy-focused projects with our utility partners,” Shah continued.
Established by the Federal Energy Management Program, the US Department of Energy’s Qualified List of Energy Service Companies was created in accordance with the Energy Policy Act of 1992 and 10 CFR 436. The Qualified List of Energy Service Companies is composed of private industry firms that have submitted an application for evaluation by the Qualification Review Board. Appointed by the US Department of Energy, the Qualification Review Board assesses such applications on merits of past performance, ability to finance energy services contracts, actual energy savings of past projects, and other metrics.
The US Department of Energy’s Qualified List of Energy Service Companies credential can be found here.  For further information, please contact Nello Tortora, Director of Federal Programs for Southland Energy, at ntortora@southlandind.com.
